Would a folding bike be a good idea. (Sorry for stating the obvious if you already have one). It could be kept under your desk or in a locked place at your work and it would give you an invaluable head-start over people trying to use the tube or the roads. It could then be folded up as soon as you ...

Meal replacement powders maybe. But Protein Shakes are very carb and calorie low so they don't actually do much in terms of nutrition all round

I don't see how a shipping container couldn't work. I'm not up to scratch on the planning regs but as it is a container, it's moveable and therefore temporary. But even if you were burying, don't bury the whole way and maybe use some sort of camo cover for the rest? And maybe look at some sort of Ki...

The UK Ration Packs are quite good.

I was in the Army Cadets and lived off them for a week once. Blooming lovely if a little bulky.

For me, if it was a car that was being used every day, carting kids about etc and if the SHTF could then be used as a go anywhere mountain goat I'd be looking at the following. Thanks Jean,

I never thought of that. But the river would only take you West-East rather than North which is where I'd want to be heading.

Fortunately I live and work next to a major route out of the city, but it's a motorway which is likely to become a car park in the event.
