The newer rat packs are designed for use in warmer climates, if I recall correctly. So the menu reflects food that tastes okay without warming it up and more drink additives for electrolytes etc. Some of the stuff on the older menus weren't great when hot let alone when cold.

I'm considering in investing in a BV (boiling vessel). If I recall correctly, these ran off a 24v supply from the vehicle batteries. I'm not sure what sort of current they draw but I would assume they are okay running off of a leisure battery bank or similar.

I have two of these left over from a previous employment. The needles on both are still in the green, but I was wondering if anyone knew how long these last for roughly? And if they are a good idea to keep around? I know that quite a few places got rid of this type of extinguisher in favour for CO2 ...
