Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.
Today's plans include re-stocking the cylumes in the kitchen and checking the stock of batteries and gas canisters after yesterday's power cut. I'm pleased to say that it barely affected us at all, tea was brewed on the camping stove, everyone had torches so games could carry on. The only problem wa...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.
It's payday tomorrow, so today is the day for finding myself a new headtorch, mine is getting a bit old and tired (not to mention it chews through batteries). It's served me well, but it's time to retire it to the backup store. Something bright and rechargeable to replace it, I think.

Today I'm attending a first aid course. It's always good to keep your knowledge up to date. (Not to mention it's nice to be out of work for a couple of days)

Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.
After reading the "house fire" thread, This week I will be adding to my fire plans: 2 extra extinguishers and 1 additional smoke alarm. Especially important since the weather is getting colder and we'll be starting to use the fire again. Also on the list for this week is teaching my eldest...

Re: Hello from Cornwall
Welcome. Cornwall is a great place to convince the kids that they like the outdoors lifestyle, the more you can get them to enjoy being outside, the less it affects you if you need to have an impromptu BBQ. Start them off with the beach on a sunny day, then you can step it up as they get more comfor...

Now that is interesting, thats about the same price I was expecting for a normal floodlight. Would you recommend infrared in preference to a typical security light? I guess its less obvious to passers by.Yorkshire Andy wrote: I got infrared flood lights from DX.com for £15 ish which illuminate about 30m away

Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.
This week for me, its going to be research into home security - cctv etc. It became apparent earlier in the week that our property has a massive blind spot that needs rectifying. I don't need/want anything super fancy, just something that enables me to see and record our main access. Keep an eye fo...

Re: New
There's always room for more ethanol, my preference is in the firm of vodka! Seiously though, now is definitely the time to start stocking up on winter fuels, in my case that means coal and firewood. I'm lucky in that I'm allowed to take all the damaged pallets from my work for free, which helps kee...
