Re: Lidl stuff

I've already got a genny, but it's 2-stroke and only 800w, it's really just an emergency thing to charge up my 110ah leisure battery. I had a look at the box in Lidl today, 1200w peak, 1000w continuous, couldn't see where it was made, but don't think I'll bother. Not overly convinced by the solar ch...

Re: Lidl stuff

So, Lidl has a 1200w inverter, 4-stroke genny for £129 today http://www.lidl.co.uk/en/our-offers-249 ... l&id=32919

Anyone know anything about it? I can't see it being any good for this price, but for occasional use, might be worth a punt?

Re: Mains Gas Hob - LPG Backup?

LPG runs at a much higher pressure than mains gas, so you will need to change the injectors or you will get flame lift. Your best bet is a 5kw cast iron gas ring that is designed to run from LPG. Also incorrect ,most domestic lpg /propane appliances run at 38mbar . J Mains gas, i.e natural gas is 2...

Re: Home invasion

Don't leave your keys in the door at night / when you are home! A friend of ours was a victim of a violent home invasion last year. The intruders put a concrete block through the glass of the UPVC back door and then leant in and opened the door with the key, which was in the lock. Despite the alarm ...

Re: Fuel storage

Both petrol and diesel have a storage life measured in months, rather than years. You can get fuel stabiliser for petrol, Briggs and stratton have one, although I don't know how effective it is. Ethanol is now put in a lot of fuel, which is hygroscopic, meaning it attracts moisture, so over time, th...

Re: The last time you used your EDC?

Two days ago - used lighter to heat my van key, so I could actually get into my van!
Today - knife on my mini SAK to cut through a wrap strap
Every night - my torch in my coat to walk the dogs!
Tonight, the bottle opener on my keyring pry tool, so I could have a beer.

Just be aware that many so-called rechargeable D-cells, are actually an AA cell in a D-Cell casing and a complete waste of time as I've found to my cost in the past :x
