Re: Survival truck ...
What would make a good survival vehicle , I would go for a grayman approach something that would blend in not create any attention. A small to medium size vw van reliable plenty of others around for spares or repairs. Transit van for same reasons for me. In obligatory white with a no tools left in ...

Finally managed to get a water butt on each downspout, will pick up more and daisy chain as they go on offer. Longer term would love to engineer a system from these into the downstairs toilet

Hi all
Returning after a long silence
Based in NE Wales, always dabbled with the basics of preparedness - but keep dipping deeper. I prep mainly for economic issues and general societal downturns.

Re: Car v public transport
Public transport by us is pretty non existent so no real option. We do use the bikes for round the village, but we live on top of a bloody big hill so you have allow quite a bit of time to get back up it!

Re: House Radiator fan
I seem to remember that a shelf above the radiator is meant to deflect the heat into the room?
I’ve lined all our curtains with cheap fleece (either blankets or fabric off eBay) then just used press studs or Velcro to attach. Makes a huge difference in winter

Please don't skimp on hot water for dishes. You get food poisoning that way - I used to work in an infectious diseases hospital and that was one of the things that always came up. Soap kills bacteria. Water only needs to be luke warm to loosen grease according to this guy*. He says it would need to...

Re: Car preps (or lack of)
I Fu##ing hate cars! They are machines, and I have the RAC to deal with mine if needed. Mine are quite new,and well serviced, and frankly,I have never called the RAC! But they are there if needed. And before anyone says anything; how many of you can can slaughter your pig and produce bacon? I CAN. Bu...

Re: Car preps (or lack of)
Normally I have a camping stove, food, water, blanket in the car. Today however, I took it all out to transport rubbish to the local tip (about 10 miles away). Guess what day I broke down? Still, during our two hour wait for recovery service (could've walked home in that time) we wandered the ...
