Ooh, Steptoe, I can see the pix perfectly, and the kit you've refurbished is very beautiful indeed! Well done you, on all levels.
And Lil, as for Beeglie - I'd pay money to see your cat in that gear
Own preps? For the sake of my energy levels, I was going to cancel my monthly supermarket delivery this week, then decided to go ahead with it - too much uncertainty to have less than a full freezer. I *have* also managed to start back on controlling the insanity of my garden and my neighbour's hedge, which overshoots into my front yard.
Plus my mega-shop of stamps has arrived.

Beeglie is too lazy to even attempt to jump up on a worktop. Plus her wee legs are too short!Yorkshire Andy wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 3:49 pm
Does it provide protection from a flying slipper or ball of socks off the clean washing pile when they jump up on the kitchen work tops too?

Fair point, but what's a sensible size? This image is small and blurred. Obviously this website has to pay for what it uses, so has limitations, but an imgur link adds no burden. Imgur is free and takes a couple of seconds. The fungi wheels I posted on here are huge.jennyjj01 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 2:14 pmNooooooo. No need to sign up with or mess with imgur.

On this topic...I realised my notes for fungi and plants were eating up a lot of space on my phone, so I re-sized and or reduced the quality of the bigger photos. Took a while, but it was worth it. I reckon by the time I finish most of the things on WFUK I will have about 3GB. I get them (photos) down to about 120kb except for special ones like those wheels, which I have as a 190MB pdf.

Steptoe, those pics came out well! Nice stoves.

My preps this week consist of trying to find a winter coat. Lots of puffa type in the shops but although they are warm the rain slides straight down off them and soaks your legs. And I already look well padded enough! It's very disheartening trying to find a coat that is actually made of wool. When you think how little farmers get for a fleece it seems bizarre that so many "wool" coats are actually wool and polyester. It gets quite expensive when you have to order online because there is no stock in the shops and when it's not right, pay a fair amount in postage to send it back. But if it is a cold winter a good coat will be important

Another couple of solar spots down the front path along with a new mains floodlight to front. Also bought a new water saving shower head which should hopefully translate into energy saving as well. Time will tell

Lovely stoves, my Rippingille stove was sold to another collector a few years ago, great little stoves and perfect on a barge (which is where mine ended up). The wickie burner are still made, you can get them on ebay, you find older ones from the 50s onward stamped with different names, mine was Chalwyn but I've seen one stamped Stesco in the past. I don't collect classic stoves anymore but still have a few kicking around and I use them on brew duty in the mancave.steptoe wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 5:26 pm Ok well trying to add a couple of pictures here as a sort of test of a couple of very old paraffin stoves i have refinished i love old stuff the less tech the better for me if i had my way i would get an old banger car pre 80's so i can be sure an EMP would do nothing to it
