Re: Using Drones for recon- bugging in & out
A chap I used to know had one. It seemed to go for miles. Fantastic picture quality, too. I seem to recall him telling me that there was a problem with some much older models, if you went below the height at which you took off from, the drone would crash. Something about ground level for the drone b...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 10
Went to the wholesalers today to stock up and see what they were giving away after Xmas. Not a lot, sadly, but I managed to get some useful stuff. I've also got the battery packs charged up again. They didn't really need it, but it's been a few months since they were done. Yes, I am procrastinating ...

Thanks for posting that, Britcit. It's one thing to plan ahead and think about what a given situation would be like, but it's another to live through it.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 10
My new saw bit (is it called a "bit" on a saw?) arrived today, for cutting through pallets with. Now I have no excuse to not get out and build some raised veg beds. The garden can be very productive as is, but having that production raised up a couple of feet will make everything better. A...

Face blindness, I believe. I have it too. A person's voice clues me in straight away, but their face? Nope.

Re: Cheapo Xmas veg is back
I picked up ten heads of broccoli for the freeze dryer a couple of days ago. They're ready in the freezer for now, until the celebrations are over and I can go visiting. 25% of what I dry is given as payment for the use of the dryer. I've dehydrated stuff in the past too, with varying degrees of suc...

Re: Has everyone coped with the extreme cold?>
I just heard a loud noise from upstairs. I thought next door was using a power tool. They've just moved in and have been decorating. My bathroom radiator was vibrating. In the end I tweaked the TRV down and the noise stopped. So it must have been that. Not sure what to make of all this! Sounds like...

Maybe the said politician thought we were all of the same IQ as he is. But we are not, so there was no need to tell freezing people to put on an extra jumper. They already have. This is exactly it. It's a bit "let them it cake!" - someone with no actual experience of living at the ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 9
One of my preps this week has been taking Christmas cards round. I don't really celebrate it myself, but judging by the decorations, there are a fair few in the street who do. It's a simple enough way to make a connection and let folk know who I am. Plus, it's an easy way to figure out folk's names ...
