I'm thinking of purchasing this sling bag seen some reviews and it looks pretty good just wondering if anyone had one have a look at the link there is also a little addon which I will link aswell I would use this as my 72 hour bob and my day sack once at my Bo location

http://hazard4.com/products/packs/chest-rigs/ventrapack

The chest rig has a pretty cool map case for easy reading while on the move
I find little things like like this make moving a lot quicker and less strenuous as you don't have to stop and take your pack off to get into maps and nav tools ect

Now a very happy owner of the rocket. A bit pricey but I have to say it's great. I have it set up as a GHB/BOB. It fits all I need for 24 to 72 hours. It wears really well and I was actually surprised at how comfortable it is. Great bag.

Yes. I could be wrong, but I have always assumed the difference to be that with a Bergen, the weight is mainly taken on the shoulders, whereas with a rucksack of similar capacity, the weight is mainly on the hips. The advantage of a Bergen is that one can wear waist webbing ('belt order') as well, and (if you're fit) it is easier to run with. The advantage of a rucksack is that it is less tiring with heavy loads. But, perhaps our military friends can correct me, if I err.

Cheers, 2RM.

Thanks for the response yes it's a bit pricey that's why I didn't order when I seen it had to hold off with the one click buy lol

I was torn between the rocket and the plan b . The rocket tipped the scale because of the two side pockets. I had the same old bulky bag for years an as much as it has served me well it's on its last legs
And there's not much point having all my gear in a paper bag if SHTF lol definitely going to purchase this when the wife isn't looking :) Would you recommend any mods for this as you have one to make life a bit easier?:).

Thanks again

OK not directly related BUT a Bergen is a a metal A framed rucksack. The rucksack is made of canvas and all the attachment are leather. It has a thick canvas strap which rest the Bergen on your lower back. The sack itself is triangular with the widest part at the bottom. This forces you to lean forward when tabbing (battle marching) a natural position for tabbing and for cross country skiing. The latter should tell you where it comes from .... Bergen in Norway. It was taken out of service in 1975 with the Parachute Regiment. It was actually used during the war by the Norwegians. Okay pedantic I know but all the same none of you have Bergens. It is possible that I am responsible for this mix up! Around 1977 I was on excused all duties for 6 months due to Parachuting accident. Obviously unacceptable in the forces to do nowt for 6 months so they put me in the stores. When new rucksacks arrived A company Colour Sergeant said the new rucksack has a number but no name. What should I call it ? l said bored to tears in the stores as I had knicked all the buckshees I needed! said just call it a bergen. So as A company got theres first it is possible that all the other Colour Sergeants followed suit. My apologies but I was bored. BEER.

I went for a Rocket over the Plan B simply because of the side pouches giving more storage. As far as Mods go the whole set up is MOLLE and that means you can attach anything MOLLE to it, so add as you go. If you want it to be Gucci stick to hazard 4 pouches to keep the colour match but any MOLLE pouch/holster etc will attach so you can take advantage of surplus deals or cheaper competitors. The outside is covered so you can add anywhere. I am going to attach a Multi tool sized pouch to the outside for easy access and maybe a torch pouch for the same reason.

Make sure you shop around; the first website I found the rocket on was £15 dearer than others! I don't know if I'm allowed to shout about a website but Heinnie Hayes were really good.

(Paratus would like to state there are other websites and suppliers available)

I have an ex-army 100+litre (i think it was something like 150litre) my son can get in it (he is 3ft 4in)
so its PRETTY BIG with a metal support up the back
I LOVE!!
i use it literally everyday ( i deliver catalogues) and it is so handy to fill up and get going
and when it is full is VERY heavy so also good training
BUT i am yet to decided on a bag for a BOB/Bug out and not come back
