Is it just me or can you never have enough??

was thinking this morning how other people cope with even a small home problem be it a small water leak or minor electrical problem (broken plug / faulty light fitting) Not the end of the world but water coming through your ceiling at 5am in the morning is'nt going to fix itself and i doubt the local plumber will answer his phone at that time...

No matter what you have you always need something else half way through a repair...


Wonder what essential tools people have ( i also service the family's cars ) so think i have a fairly comprehensive collection

Hammers (everyone needs a hammer) various sizes from pin hammer , claw hammer to sledge.

Screw drivers from glasses repair / jewlers drivers to big PZ4 for big screws such as frame fittings to 1000v insulated electricians drivers..

cordless drill, mains drill,SDS drill and a hand drill

Spanners full metric set from 4mm to 36 mm big and small adjustable and a set of halfords ratchet spanners

Mole grips

water pump pliers

cable cutters, Pliers, long nose pliers

Pipe cutters

hacksaws (jr and full size)

Multi meter's Got a fluke volt probe and a amp clamp meter along with a couple of basic meters

1/4 3/8 1/2" socket sets and special sockets for car (ribe and big hex (7mm for brakes and 12mm for sump bolt)

oil filter removers

jacks (bottle and trolly) axle stands (need some wheel chocks)

Blow lamp, plumbers solder flux (and few plumbing bits incl push fit water stops for burst pipes)

Full electronics soldering kit

cable crimping tool

joinery bits (chisels plane etc)

think that covers the basics of my home kit

I have a massive collection of tools, but they are spread across several locations. As soon as I get the power sorted in my basement then my Gibbs Cave will start to come to life.

In addition to your list I also have stuff for working with resins and other plastics.

The Holy Grail is of course...

Yes it's you you can have enough...... just never too many same goes for Guitars, Guns, Knives, Torches, Survival kit, candles and toilet paper

If it cant be fixed with a hammer or adjustable spanner, it cant be fixed!

I think the only thing missing from that list would be a good quality, heavy duty saw like a bow saw or something similar.

Its a nail puller, the blue bit acts as a kinetic hammer (and also increases the length of the lever).
I've used mine to pull out four inch nails that had been clenched over and two inch #8 screws from softwood.

Its the nuts if you're planning on lifting floorboards (five inch cut-nails out of Victorian joists, minimal damage to boards)

Despite being female, i have a rather extensive collection of tools and equipment due to previous career, however i also ALWAYS keep to hand A roll of Gaffa and a Can of WD40.

If it moves and its not supposed to , Gaffa Tape it
