Aldi have fruit trees from 6ht Feb. Going to spend £16, and plant two pairs of fruit trees off the beaten track.
You never know when they could be useful. If stolen or dont grow not too great a loss.
Hope its useful to someone.

Re: Fruit Tree
Well spotted. I won't be paid til the 8th - I hope there's some plums left, to be guerilla gardening planted in the flat-block space, and provide me with fruit to make wine out of.
Thanks, 2RM.

Quite soon it will be too late! Trees need to be planted before the clocks go forward. Provided the ground is not frozen, get it in.unsure wrote:is it a bit early to plant these .i`m thinking two apple a pear and a plum , but a bit worried about the weather getting to them . its not the cost ,its the expectation and then them dying .

Damsons and crab apples, IMHO they are the thing for guerilla gardening. Improbably prolific, tough and not too desirable from the point of view of the great unwashed. Plant them in an obscure place at the far side of a canal (not the side with the tow path) in amongst the bushes preferably right on the fence line of a farmers field. They'll get sun there because they border the field and also be screened from passers by because of the canal and other shrubbery. When SHTF you can harvest the output, dry it and have a vitamin and nutrient source during the winter.2ndRateMind wrote:I hope there's some plums left, to be guerilla gardening planted in the flat-block space
Morrisons also sell fruit trees and I've noticed the damsons and crab apples are usually the last to go. Also, in the past, I have seen gooseberry, currents and raspberrys in Poundland. It is always worth checking in those sorts of shops - particularly later in the spring as the wholesalers unload surplus stock.
