Others may have already thought about this and doing it but stocktaking my food cupboard on sunday i thought it wouldnt hurt to actually stock more meals in a can like the All day breakfasts you can get tinned, or tinned sausage and beans. So far i have only been buying tins of beans, tins of peas, tins of sweetcorn etc, tins of potatoes.
So yesterday i bought a 20p tin of Spagetti bolognese and it actually turned out to be pretty tasty and a meal in itself. So purchased another 10 tins this morning for £2

Bargain! What is the life of tinned food like this? Do they even have dates on??
Re: Meal In A Can
Indeed they are, I have quite a few myself.Donquay wrote:Bargain! What is the life of tinned food like this? Do they even have dates on??
Mine have a Best Before date of November 2015, so roughly 2 years before the nutritional value and taste start to decrease, I wont be throwing them out when I reach that date either.
If I haven't rotated them out by then of course.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

I stock a lot of tinned ready meals. Sausage and beans, irish stew, curry, etc etc. great for me fishin' trips. There for easy eating if the power goes out. Also , contrary to my post about use by dates in another thread, the tins are Best Before. I ate a tin of irish stew the other day that was two years off code. Tin had not been compromised, very tasty.
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

I've been stocking up on own brand Spaghetti Bolognaise, Mac n Cheese, ravioli, sausage n beans, chicken curry, chilli etc for a while. They don't taste too bad as a quick snack and if push comes, aren't too bad cold either!
My daughter eats them so they get rotated.
