Ok... So I have accomplished a milestone in our preps.
Prepping is something that is a very serious challenge in terms of how and what type of preps you undertake.
I mean look at the huge amount of different scenarios that you may need to prepare for.
There is one that is very near and dear to our families hearts. The dreaded Flu.
Aside from the fact that there has been many different scares on this subject over the years, the Spanish flu did a great deal of damage. Of not it was an avian flu.
Like a few people I have the rsoe edis app on my tablet and keep abreast of the notices that come in. Many years ago I was involved in a unique planning project for some of the prime financial institutions in the world. This project was taken very seriously. It centered on how to keep things going in case of an avian flu pandemic.
So here we come to the substance of this post.
I now have on hand two courses of Tamiflu and Relenza for each of my family. Yeah I know there are questions on the effectivness of these. Though I am prepared to have the placebo effect as a benefit.
The reason I have payed ... Good Money ... to get these in is very simple. If the NHS deliveryman is to sick to deliver these same meds to my house in a pandemic... I dont have to worry. I have them already.
Look..... the avian flu in it's many forms has developed the ability for human to human transmission in China already.
Peace all.

Yes it is prescription only. Yet you can get it online from quite a few places in the UK. I went to a provider that is based in Harley Street in London. The key is that you will do an online consultation with their in house doctor. Once the doctor approves your consultation, you can buy the meds.damaralenoire wrote:See, now i have a good amount stored some pain killers starting at standard paracetamol to tramadol, i have stored some inhalers etc but Tamiflu is a prescription only medicine i was told and i was told i couldnt buy it even unless i had a need for it, just did a google search but how would i know i was paying for the genuine stuff etc
It is very straight forward and you have assurance that the meds are the real thing.
I will warn that since this is a private prescription, the medication is expensive. Thought I am happy with paying for this very substantial form of insurance.
Just my thoughts.

Well stated on the pain killer warnings. To be honest if thongs are so bad that this is needed to treat someone then you are looking at a life threatening injury or illness. While pain management drugs have their uses. We all need to understand in detail how we are going to manage the conditions causing the pain.
It is along the lines of many US peppers stocking up on IV fluids. If a person needs that level of fluid replacement, then they are a long way down the road of what primitive first aid is going to do for them.
Keep focused on what you need to have on hand to keep from getting sick. Make sure you can do good first aid. Stop the loss of blood and prevent shock.
A bit of the combat lifesaver training coming back too mind here.
Thanks all

I don't like the look of that! Where are the assurances from? The website itself?sfcfinchrs wrote:Yes it is prescription only. Yet you can get it online from quite a few places in the UK. Re:
Couldn't agree with you more , but there are two trains of thought , the negative, you don't know how to use them so why have them and the positive , if you've got them and someone has the skills to use them , then they are worth mire than gold .sfcfinchrs wrote:Well stated on the pain killer warnings. Thanks for the concerns however unfortunately for me i have been on these tablets for last four years due to Degenerative discs of the spine, I would like to think i am pretty sensible when it comes to medication so they are saved mainly for my use only, I do other things to relieve the pain but i can live without them

Re: Medical Prepping
I got my Tamiflu via the Chemist Direct website - very well known and respected UK website. It did involve an online consultation for the issuing of a prescription. As the OP says - it's controversial and may not be effective against any emerging strain - but I'd rather have it and not need it etc - especially as I'm asthmatic and work in a school where bugs are rife! It was expensive, but we all have our personal priorities.
I have also added a couple of boxes of face masks to my preps and sanitiser gel.

Sorry to hear that you have the back problem. Lots of pain from something like that. Stocking up on you prescription meds is a good idea.damaralenoire wrote:poppypiesdad wrote:damaralenoire wrote:See, now i have a good amount stored some pain killers starting at standard paracetamol to tramadol

A broad spectrum approach to prepping is I think what I wanted to advocate. Although the big worries over a pandemic is what prompted me to post.
