permaculture and Hay boxes

The Hay Box is no brainer if short of fuel. I could explain it but best read. Just Google for a good read. I like the photos that come up dozens of ideas on how to make them. An obvious one is to a use cool box.

Apologise if all of the above have already been mentioned. I assume the hay box has but thought I would put in anyway.

How about the hay box? If I come across a cold box free or near free I will try it although haven't decided on the insulation material yet. It has to be free of course or nearly. My first thought was chainsaw chipping in the bottom but not great idea as there is no pockets of air.

You can look at that but I just thought the pictures that comes on the first page of Google were great for ideas to make one

I did a clearance last year for a market trader who deals with foodstuffs. Part of the "rubbish" was some large polystyrene boxes , the walls being about 2" thick and plenty big enough to accommodate a casserole dish which of course I did. Actually I cut up another box to pack inside closely around the dish and tried it out. Worked fine and for my next experiment I was thinking of the old technique of placing hot rocks in with the food combined with this modern day haybox.
