Christmas 'Hamper'

I have 1 brother and 2 sisters. All are switched on to the idea of prepping but haven't done anything about it (SIGH!). So, I'm thinking to hell with it, instead of the usual cr*ppy CDs, DVDs etc, I might make them each a preppers Christmas 'hamper' (ok think more of a shoebox). Aiming at around £50 each and to cover a short-term emergency (eg. power cut, car stuck in the snow, and the like).

(I'll be using amazon to show the items but obviously I'd shop around and try to avoid postage costs!)

Yup! I've got 2 pairs socks and knickers in my BOB!

I'm not sure about the Ration pack though, you could personalise one with better kit for less money.
Chocolate is always good!

Yes I'd thought about pants and socks....I have the same in mine. Maybe also gloves and hat? And yes maybe just have a packet of biccies and a brew kit instead of the 24hr food kit.
Keep those ideas coming!

Gloves and hat are good, I've also got some OXO cubes. I use them to make a hot drink it's really warming and reviving. How about some of those pouches of ready to eat soup too?

Would they not already have a thermos flask?

Why not put in one of those little battery operated mobile phone chargers instead of a flask?

I'm not giving hampers cos they're too expensive. Instead, I have bought all the cheap copies I can find of 'The Global Warming Survival Kit' book, which is a kind of intro to prepping by another name. It has checklists of things at the end of each chapter and covers basics such as food, water, power, keeping warm/cool etc. My family and closest friends ie the ones I'd be wanting to save if tshtf will be getting a copy for Christmas and after that it will be up to them to act or not. Hopefully they will act.

Great idea, could add some of them sachets of hot chocolate, or maybe a miniture of brandy, nip of that will keep them warm depending on how old they are, and oh yes! CHOCOLATE!

I bought a box of 40 handwarmers for £24 from amazon.

I have lots of lightsticks. Too many! Good till Dec 21st 2012 (ahem). High intensity yellow. Last several hours. Box of 10 for £3 plus about £1.60 postage.
