I am sure Ive missed quite a bit off. My first aid supplies I have listed in another thread viewtopic.php?f=19&t=9699 and as I mentioned the trauma kit and this kit are designed to be spread over a carry load of two people and possibly a bug out vehicle and then of course I have a different load for land rover etc but the above is what I and my girlfriend can happily carry with a few additions etc easily and for a period of time spread out over both of us. Depending on the situation I would also possibly carry a lightweight 12ftlbs .22 air gun and or a 150lb draw weight crossbow but weight starts to get prohibitive I have found when you start adding big extras.
I think the beauty of my kit is that I have designed it to carry in a modular way so can cut weight from the kit very easily without taking too much effectiveness and to vary for different scenarios I also have 2 NBC kits with GSR respirators but would not carry them in certain scenarios.
I would welcome any constructive comments. I sometimes get carried away with kit or so my girlfriend tells me when she strapps the bag I have packed her on her back!! Do we really need all of this is a common comment..... haha Cheers for reading.

Very impressive, but looks to be quite short term, what are your provision plans for a longer term bug out?

What bag(s) are you using?
For me, I'd class tent and sleeping bags as essentials, everything listed in the Comm/Tech/Navi section after Map and Compass as luxury and body armour as a WTF?
Got any cash besides the gold?
But I am not you, my preps are therefore not your preps.
I'd try to standardise on one battery type if possible
Maybe add some additional clothing (clean underwear is a huge boost, and there is a chance that either you or she might not be dressed suitably)
Are seven knives needed, even for two people?

Yeah does sound a bit knife heavy, and heavy, heavy
but if your location is stocked and you can make it with the other contents fair enough, remember however you pack it a crossbow especially with all that other stuff your loaded with is like a boat anchor and will get caught up on anything and everything, collapsed or just not yet assembled could be another matter, a compound bow has similar issues neither are hardy, ( I wonder how many the guy on walking dead has busted making the shows) I'd go with an air rifle if I were you, and though you may count them as normal clothing- gloves they wont make you superman as they say, but the rest of your kit indicates expecting hard hand work for someone who may not be used to it.
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

What they said
Ditch all the funny battery torches , and stick with a couple of "usual " sizes like AA and AAA, got rid of my 123A and 18650 or what ever they are sizes , would be easier replenish than trying to hunt down odd sizes .
Gurkha knife is called a kukri .
Small bottles of Tabasco are included in UK rat packs so is it necessary.

Be Prepared.
Plan like its the last loaf on the shop shelves.
Plan like its the last beer in the fridge.

Hey ya it is short term it's designed to get me to one of three different locations the one that's the farthest away is about two fifty miles from where I live, so I have three stashs along the way containing different bits and pieces based on the assumption that for whatever reason I am not going to be able to drive there. The stash areas have supplies of various food stocks and some heavy in place items. Could potentially live at each waypoint stash for a week at a time comfortably.

Matt

I have sleeping bags at my end point location along with long term shelter arrangements and some general longer term survival plans.ForgeCorvus wrote:What bag(s) are you using?

For bags I am using a Tasmanian first responder and a molle back pack think it's a miltech nothing fancy but about 60-70 litres and the Tasmanian is about maybe eighty litres.as the he comms and navigation items the iPads etc I class as a must have as they hold vast amounts of knowledge and also give me a way of entertaining myself and picking my spirits up when they are low. I always carry cash and cards it I am basing bugging out on the assumption that cash isn't worth anything anymore if it is then I'm sorted as I have ample but if not I got a small bit of gold combined with other stuff (spare medical supplies, weapons etc) that I can trade with. Body armour makes me feel safe ha as I mentioned it would depend on the situation but I'm all about survivability and if law and order have broken down I expect to have to have a fight at some point so this give me an element of my vital organs being protected against what I think would be the most common threat in the uk someone trying to stab me or someone blasting me with a shotgun.
I prefer a different mix of battery types most of my torches will work on aa batteries as we'll but the 18500 ones will work on camera batteries and I everyone uses aa batteries so good luck trying to get those in the shop where as I think there will be camera batteries left on the shelf. I also have solar power chargers and other power sources so am happy I can keep myself well lit until I reach my hide hole in the area that I have chosen. As for the knife scenario I know maybe over kill but I do like knives they are a massive benefit to any scenario and would also be a tradable commodity.
As for clothing I class this I'm personal kit which each person would take anyway along with my smokes, and my hip flask etc I would as part set of tactical clothes.
Cheers,
Matt
Re: My BOB List comments welcome
There are many variables in someones bugging out methods.
What are you actually bugging out to?
Sounds like your gonna be in 'Refugee Mode'.
If you are bugging out on foot you should be aiming at at least 3 days self sufficiency (the longer the heavier your bergan gets).
Your gear sounds a bit too heavy if you are on foot. You could always place some caches on the way to your bug out location which would cut down on weight.
Too many knives - Re- assess.
Ditch the Cyalumes. How much space does this take up?
Body armour? too heavy, go tactical and weigh up the risks of threat levels.
Playing cards? Your bugging out... your mind will be racing and evaluating.. you will not be in the frame of minde for a quick game of poker.
Ditch the IPAD... keep your files on memory stick.
Tent is luxury item... again heavy. Go for a Basha.
If you are bugging out go light, remember you want to conserve energy and get to your location (if you have one) as quick as possible.
Is the rest of your party as fit as you are???
If in doubt go for a trial run, this will be the best way of evaluating your gear and deciding what you need and never use.
There's more but hope this helps.
