Greetings from a newbie

Post by rickoshea »

Hi Everyone, I’m Rick, and I hope I've posted in the right place.

First let’s get this out of the way. I’m not a USA style survivalist headcase, nor a doomsday prepper looking to save my rice from an asteroid attack, and If i’ve come to the wrong place let me know now. I’ve recently been on another forum which I shall not name, but I got the distinct impression that their messianic complex and belief in themselves to lead us all to salvation was worrying.

I found the site by search engine, and I've been looking into self sufficiency for about a year, so have a lot to learn. I’m looking for information on getting my smallholding completely off grid should the need arise, without drawing too much attention to myself, having a good range of supplies tools and advice and hopefully giving a bit back. I’m not a soldier, doctor, rocket scientist or the man who would be king, but i’m willing to contribute where I can.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Many of us are striving for a more self sufficient lifestyle as a way to guard against whatever the future might hold. We have many types of people here, with different skills, different ideas of what they are prepping for. We have some good (sometimes heated) discussions and often agree to disagree.

Hope you find what you are looking for here.

Hello and welcome :) Yes preparing for what ever the future may throw at us is just as much about learning to be more self sufficient and cope with out some of todays things-we-take-for-granted, as it is about gathering a small stockpile to see you through an immediate crisis! There is lots about how to make and create, mend and make do on here. Happy browsing!

Hello and welcome
