Hi from south cambs

Post by arslongavitabrevis »

HI all in east anglia etc.
Stonemason of ten years experience. bug out kit: Molle pack over 58lb webbing over SAS smock of uncertain vintage and ballistic binman trousers containing variously WET WIPES (only those who have had to make like the bears do will understand quite how great these are) water bottles, water bags, medkit, water purification, cooking stove, tobacco tin burner (lived in the woods for six months off one of these once) gaffer tape, hennessy hammock, bedroll, tarp, poncho, bedding for 2 people, spare clothes, lightweight (helium cannister cut up) woodburner full of fuel and tinder, lots of parrafin wax, SALT AND SPICES, Pulses and dried food for three days, snares, 28-80 lb draw takedown recurve bow and spare limbs of my own manufacture, 300fps asda flatband slingshot with whisper biscuit for use as slingbow(ditto), FAC multi pump pneumatic air rifle, full tool kit also of my own manufacture comprising axe, adze (head doubles as splitting wedge) chisels, saws, files, pliers, lots of wire and cordage, archimedes drill, rare earth magnets and and a few surprises... Home made antler handled stainless steel micro hatchet/knife, norwegian everyday knife, small crowbar, multitool, collapsable fishing rod and kit...
weighs in at under 20 KG without making any noise when moving at speed. three man canoe with outboard and paddles for t'missus as she aint up to walking much stored hidden 3 mins walk from house on major waterway. BOL's over about 10 miles radius of country and caches. With the tools in my kit I can eventually get through or manufacture anything made of wood, stone, concrete or steel or for that matter make decent money repairing any of the above.
In the brain: unusually encyclopeadic memory - everything from hunting lore to trigonometry, first aid, small unit tactics and protechnic demolitions expertise.
In the Wife's Brain:99% of medical degree and associated first aid gunk, amazing ability to make friends and generally "mother hen" anyone in a 12 mile radius
not prepping for anything in particular, but if and when the shtf I and the wife (who has a few health problems) should be unfindable within about 30 minutes, without needing resupply for several months.
Spare "wife bag" for anything she needs up to 10KG (walking) or 40KG (Canoe).
I take all this clobber (plus a mate and a load of beer) out on a mothly yomp or as often as I can manage just to stay on top of it.
No point being uncomfortable out there...And before anyone tells me, The bows etc are for fishing, line launching for river crossing or high hide construction (because NO-ONE looks UP!)
It's amazing what a few years poaching can do for ones ability not to be noticed.
Anyway. I'm curious as to what area I'm in and who's about in the terrain, as communites last longer in general than "rugged" (dare I say paranoid?) individualists
Any Ideas on post shtf comms or IFF for local like minded peeps? I'm also into learning a lot about climing ropes and harness etc.
was wondering about DLB's or Beacon rally points or maybe some kind of protocol for gathering together...

Hi from the Edge of the Fens (hills in one direction, flatness in the other).

I love walking, cycling and messing about in boats - but mainly for pleasure. My "prepping" is entirely based around staying at home. If things get so bad that I become a refugee then I'll admit that I'm out of my depth!

But your pack is inspirational. I've not fished since I was a boy - yet I walk passed a river every day. Time to correct that, I think.
