Finally got some time to do decent work on the veg plots. Wife has been stocking up on tins on offers and we have been busy on e-bay "liquidating" assets (or turning stuff into cash :D ) .

I've spent the week putting up a chicken wire fence round my allotment plot - never done anything like that before so it's taken flippin' ages! It's not pretty, but I hope it will keep the rabbits out! I've learnt that I'm not very good with a spade, but hopefully in time that will improve :D

For the most part it was buried about a spade's depth. The earth is really stony so it was really hard work!

And to those in the building trade 300mm (because evidently we get confused if we use mm and cm :) )

My daughter's doing her Silver too - she needs a new backpack, since Bronze, when she turned up, having packed everything into a much smaller one and promptly had it exchanged for a bigger one from store. We thought we'd done really well  .

In case of a hot summer I have stocked up on ice lollypop moulds and refreezable ice cubes. Getting too hot and dehydrated can be a nightmare if you have to carry on working no matter what.

I know its not quite a ray mears type situation, but keeping my mind and body right in hot weather I personally find rather difficult.

I also have got myself a soda syphon setup for occasional iced sodas again to persuade myself to drink more water when the weather is hot.

It might sound frivolous, but it sure is important to maintain hydration.

So, you'd packed everything and somebody decided that it had to go in a bigger bag ? WTF are the instructors trying to teach ??

My preps included doing a test of my new down sleeping bag....With mixed results
Plenty of room round the foot area, which is why I bought a square bag rather then a mummy.
However, it wasn't designed for blokes my shape (17 inch collar, 48 inch chest.... But I have to buy 52 inch jackets to get my blacksmith's shoulders in)
So, now I have an 'only just used' sleeping bag to get rid of
