Having purchased one of the inverters, I thought I would write a short review.

The unit comes supplied with a cigar lighter plug and crocodile clips.

The first thing I did was dump the cigar plug into my spare box in is of no practical use for me.

I connected the croc clips to my solar power system battery. Switched on and all was ok

I then connect my 20 watt desk lamp which draws about 1 amp at 240 volts if my maths it correct.

The inverter worked correctly and at a 20 watt load generated a s7 pulsing noise on the the amateur radio HF bands. This would not present a problem for me as I would not run the inverter apart from charging my electric drills, or running my portable TV.

The unit weighs less than 2 lbs or 1 kilo with the cord attached. It is rated at 300 watts constant 600 watts surge. width is 13 cm length is 17.5 cm and height is 7 cm.

I'll save up for a pure sine wave inverter.

Im not sure how much the lidl ones cost as the page has expired, but i purchased the 150w version of this about a year ago:

http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-24v-mo ... tlet-a25fw

I used it for a period of about 2 weeks in the field, running off of a 24v system (2 x 12v batteries) I over did it with a 3 plug extension cable plugged into it charging 2 phones at any one time on and off, and running a portable speaker off of it, however it still lasted almost all of the 2 weeks in that state so it can take a minor amount of punishment, but not alot as it did overload, stupid of me, however i learnt my lesson.

The issue i had with it was the plug, military vehicles dont have the standard lighter socket, so i had to put one of these on there:

http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/20a-standard-hella-plug-a94gw

I dont know if thats the same socket as landrovers? or other such vehicles, but its just a point to note.

The advantage of the Hella plug over the normal cigarette lighter is the power rating. Typically a cigar lighter socket will be fused at 10 amps. The Hella plug and socket is rated at 20 amps and fused at 20 amps.
