out of date egg noodles

Post by moocher »

We got builders in next week to redo kitchen workgroups etc.
And as I'm emptying cupboards I found some egg noodles under the kickboards that was mixed in with my toothpaste and candles stash.
They are dated March to Jul 2013 are they safe to eat, regarding the egg side?
There is 6 packets

I don't know, the question I'd be asking is how much money will you be discarding? for such a small amount it may cost you more in TP, were it the day after TSHTF and not the day before the builders, you may want to hang on to them ;)
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

I'm no expert, but I'd hazard an educated guess it's unlikely to be a health issue (anything that has a use by date of longer than a few days isn't a high risk) - it'll be more of an eating quality issue. Dried eggs are completely different to fresh ones. Eg, fresh bananas last a few days. Dehydrated bananas last a lot, lot longer. Maybe they'll be a bit more dried out than they should be and the taste and colour may have deteriorated, but otherwise they should be OK. I would try them - nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Experiment on yourself, but put some bog roll in the fridge first for later.

Can't see a problem with them. I've eaten egg lasagne sheets a couple of years out of date and apart from needing more sauce they were not strange tasting. Nor did we require chilled LR :?
