Re: where do you stash your stocks??
Can you substitute a chair or piece of furniture for a chest with a couple of cushions on top? We did this in the boy's room and even one of those cheap wooden ones from Homebase will take a lot.

Had to get rid of one armchair due to space issues. Got a small table and 3 chairs that is in the place where the chair was.
Space here drives me mad as living and dining in one room makes for cramped looking room as it is.
Hallway would be perfect but have 3 bikes there and we have to go past them sideways to get out so not sure where I would something like that to be honest.

Decaff - been there, done that. The kids know better than to muck up the DVDs sorted by rating and, within that, alphabetical order. Oh, yeah!
I have a Word document with a table. I can re-order to print stock by alphabetical order or by BB/UB dates. Recently added column for location
. You sound as if you're pretty organised as it is. Good luck winkling out extra storage!

Indeed and don't even think to move tins etc around in the cupboard etc or dinner will be very late while I put it all back again, lined up in date order, labels facing forwards like rows of soldiers ha Haa!! I am Mrs ocd and like everything in its place, cos that's exactly where it "lives".FEISTY wrote:Decaff - been there, done that. OCD
the evil within has fun with OCD people, my son complained once that I made him toast with one slice the other way round - I turned each one 90 degrees ever since, I've done the same thing with banknotes, and I had a friend who would go around turning all the empty power sockets in our kitchen off believing the electricity would leak, needless to say the week after I'd seen her doing it one of them was super glued in the on position, all good fun, I with you on the date order though- not paranoid but like to keep it sensible, and DVD collection alphabetical absolutely, but we've had to condense it all buying book sized 10 to a box cases and printing a spine with the names on- causes havoc once a year when we re do them.
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

all tinned and dried food is in the "larder" and rotated by date, meat and frozen stuff is in the freezers.
Adapt or Die, there is no middle ground.

Can you store offsite? A few caches of non valuable, non perishables buried about the local area perhaps?
Cutting, combustion, cordage, container, cover.

My (extensive) video collection is stored on the home network. I buy a DVD/BD, rip to hard drive(s) and job done, the disk goes back in its box and is stored away.
Other stuff is stored in our spare utility room, loft, shed and lock up garage.

I'd need some huge hard drives for our lot, and we don't do blue ray yet.rik_uk3 wrote:My (extensive) video collection is stored on the home network. I buy a DVD/BD, rip to hard drive(s) and job done, the disk goes back in its box and is stored away.

I'm running around ten TB of drives for data backup plus some back ups of the back ups lol. Hard drives are cheap as chips now so its very achievable to back up your disk collection. My daughter and her partner are film/TV show mad and when they set up home together found they had around 400 duplicate disks between them, I culled some of my disks and we did a boot sale in Cardiff and sold off around 700 mostly to other sellers.Plymtom wrote:I'd need some huge hard drives for our lot, and we don't do blue ray yet.rik_uk3 wrote:My (extensive) video collection is stored on the home network.
