If you haven't already, rooms with free space on the walls can have some narrow shelves slapped up there with hooks, amazing how much a square metre or two of cheap shelving can accomodate. If it's placed above head height it won't get in the way...

I'd need some huge hard drives for our lot, and we don't do blue ray yet.
Don't even bother with Blu-ray. We started buying them and I was hard pushed to tell the difference, even though we had Blu-ray players. Waste of money. The S will HTF before the quality improves enough to be worth the cost :).

Indeed and don't even think to move tins etc around in the cupboard etc or dinner will be very late while I put it all back again, lined up in date order, labels facing forwards like rows of soldiers ha Haa!! I am Mrs ocd and like everything in its place, cos that's exactly where it "lives".

It all started for me when I was a child, but having a part-time job in a supermarket after school weekdays and Saturday really kicked me off. Facing up after stacking the shelves was an art form and the glass on the deli counter sparkled. I've just been planting out my grown-from-seed heirloom squash, courgettes and nasturtiums and, although I didn't measure the spacing, you'd think I had :). It's a curse as much as a blessing. I'm quite looking forward to the SHTF, because I'll no longer spend a couple of days every week (or at least it feels like that) ironing everything, including socks, for a family of four to absolute perfection.

Ooh I feel your pain :(

I had to swap over a tap in the bathroom once as it was a single swan neck type and I " had" to polish the ruddy thing obsessively even if the bathroom hadn't been used. You can imagine how I acted when visitors came round... It had to go and now I have lever type taps so that I don't have to touch them as such to use them... I want ones where they have sensors in so they never have to be touched but they are far too expensive still.

OCD is not fun. I take my own cutlery set with me when we eat out too and no-one is allowed to use it even at home or it has to be dishwashed before I can use it again. My own cup, drinking glass  nightmare

The quality does vary a lot depending on the film/show in question and how its mastered and if your TV is full HD. For instance Star Trek (original) has been remastered and the difference in picture quality is simply stunning.

Here's a good site for more obscure releases
http://networkonair.com/shop/94-TV worth a look.

Yeah our sentiment on Blueray too,it's all well and good having HDTV but you need HD eyesight too, plus it's wasted on most things, on non ridiculous sized TVs ;)
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

Decaff - I think you have it worse than me :). Poor thing. I get infuriated when I've just cleaned the counters (and polished them) and someone breezes in the back door and dumps carrier bags, keys, books or something else on them. If looks could kill. Getting back to the original thread, a mild form of OCD makes prepping hard as everything has to have its place, be easily found and logged to infinity and beyond :). It's amazing where things can be kept if you think outside of the box though. I've not long wiped down the dining table and chairs and there's a space underneath the padding - you'd have to look underneath the chair to see it. The difficulty is in how to fix anything to the underside, something that wouldn't make a noise when the chair is moved ... Just thinking aloud :).

OCD can be a nasty intrusion on your day to day life. My wife is a senior mental health nurse and runs patient therapy for a nearby NHS trust, she gets very good results with OCD patients via therapy so its not the end of the world, talk to your GP, ask for a referral and see if cognitive therapy is available to you; I'd be surprised if its not. Knowing you have it means your already on the road to recovery.

An update on my storage problem! :D

My son has (had lol) two double wardrobes to himself... One now has a food storage compartment which basically consists of a giant # shape but boxed in. I have now moved all the tinned goods into this and have plenty more room for an awful lot more stores! Perfect place as its dark, cool and more importantly out of sight. 8-)

Will also be able to get lots of my kilner jars in when they are filled and of course this means the kitchen cupboard is empty and away from prying eyes of visitors. ;)

Downside? Son "found" the chocolate stash and thought it was Yule, Ostara and his birthday all in one  I must now get a tin to put it in and tape it up!

Upside? He didn't find the noodle stash, which is in a tin proving that it will work

So thank you everyone for all the ideas you gave me.

My daughter has 3 double wardrobes (a wall of wardrobes), a shelving area, a chest of drawers, a bedside table with storage and a desk with storage, not to mention the under-bed storage. If I so much as mentioned commandeering any of it for preps, WWIII would break out :).
So thank you everyone for all the ideas you gave me.
