I joined this forum a few years ago but haven't posted anything. I am actually from the USA and have been living in the UK for the past 9 years, but will be returning home this August. I've been prepping for about 3-4 years slowly gathering stuff for emergency preparedness. I have found it pretty difficult at times to get great preps that are available in the states here in the UK. Just as I'm leaving I have seen more and more stuff become available, which is great, especially with the economic meltdown that is in the ever nearer future.
I'm employed as a nurse and have had the opportunity to acquire expired medical supplies for nothing as they would have just been thrown away, ie sutures, dressings, etc. Hopefully I'll never need to use them.
I have to say the one important lesson I've learned is to not build up a food storage of stuff you would never eat normally. I have lots of tinned food, some of which is soon to or has expired, that I don't know what to do with. I can't take it with me nor can I sell it or give it to the food banks, so I'm going to have to throw it.
As I said earlier, I'm moving back home and am sorting through the preps I have to determine what is worth shipping over and what I need to sell, give, or throw away. I'm looking forward to moving back home where I can obtain a much better range of prepping supplies. Especially firearms
So I wish you all happy prepping and am so glad to be in the company of like minded people when it comes to survival and clued in on the state of the world. Good luck
