Hi all. I want to buy first aid kit for our house. I never had one before except my EDC first aid kit which I always have in my rucksack. I want to buy something ready made if possible - just not sure which one should we buy - it is for family 2+1, also space saving is important

I bought a large military FAC, little ones like you see in the shops are next to useless, get several over time -you can never have enough, I have about 6 so far, bought another one last week at a car boot-a German one never been used and still in date £5!!

Thanks - I bet they are good but I am looking for just one for civilians as I am not preparing for end of the world at the moment
I ve seen sets for 15 quid, just am not sure if they will do the job?

I would put your own together, get hold of the First Aid Manual (latest edition) and see what they suggest. Then get the bits individually for the best prices you can.

I've always had this philosophy "if its good enough for the military its good enough for me", the large kits have everything you need or are likely to need, but you will have to get yourself a stock of sticking plasters separately to the main kit, you can do that fairly cheaply, get yourself a good small set of scissors and some tweezers to add to your kit.

Wilkinsons are selling all you need for a FAK. Check your stock of plasters every few months as some stop being sticky after a while. I also stock zinc oxide tape which seems to 'last' longer and is cheap enough to buy (cheap on ebay).

The most important thing is training, go get some and then practise, practise and practise.
