I get a lot of power cuts, mostly they are pretty short but each time my mains powered clocks, including my alarm clock reset.
So I have been slowly replacing all of them with wind up clocks.
Most of them are second hand and wondered if anyone could recommend a book for absolute beginners for clock maintenance...I don't want anything too complicated, just the basics to show me how to clean and oil, and perhaps attend to the most common and simplest of faults.

Re: clocks
Hi Piglet, I have battery backup in my alarm clock, power cuts are rare for me but there have been a few over the years during the night but the power is back on again in the morning. That could be an option.

Are you looking for some of those older out of copyright PDF books or something more recent?piglet wrote: Most of them are second hand and wondered if anyone could recommend a book for absolute beginners for clock maintenance...I don't want anything too complicated, just the basics to show me how to clean and oil, and perhaps attend to the most common and simplest of faults.

Now thats fascinating! And we'd probably still want to know the time a bit more accurately than "sun's up" or "its near sunset". Wow
