. Neither them, nor my husband seem to have the same need to have everything ordered
. They're the ones that need help

I only have a couple of OCD-ish things one is washing, if clothes items come to me to wash half inside out they are returned totally inside out, the other is i must have a clear work area before I cook, or do anything, there's no fun in making a mess if it's not clean to start with
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

I can't deal with socks inside out. I will get the offender to turn them right way out, they have to be pared together and matching in the drawer or I will not be happyPlymtom wrote:I only have a couple of OCD-ish things one is washing, if clothes items come to me to wash half inside out they are returned totally inside out, the other is i must have a clear work area before I cook, or do anything, there's no fun in making a mess if it's not clean to start with
I made iced shortbread star cookie trees one year and they were huge, all iced and decorated and the kitchen worktop was full of them, the table full of them. Loved it! Recipients were chuffed to bits too, wrapped in dotty cellophane with big wired bows on them

I'm always concerned by the excel passion everyone seems to have. For people without access to a computer or fears that the computer may go belly up I just use a cheap exercise book. Month and year on the top of each page, product and location listed underneath. That way I can flick thro and see what needs using up over the coming months with no need to fire up the laptop OR the printer

Re: where do you stash your stocks??
I use a simple word document and, I think I've mentioned before, is that you can re-order items by, eg, date order, alphabetical order in almost any permutation. New items don't always have longer shelf lives than items I already have, but I know I can slot them in and just "re-order" the list. I have my stores separated out into First Aid/Health/Medication/Vitamins, Food, Miscellaneous (eg Mylar Bags, etc), Water (inc WaterBob, Purification Tablets, etc), but, more importantly, I print out each update and keep them in a folder alongside my growing collection of prepping books. After SHTF, there will be no new additions to the list, which is just as well, because there might be no access to the computer, but for now, it's the fastest option and makes it possible to find anything I need quickly and keep up to date with BB/UB dates. All I can say is that it works for meStasher wrote:Decaff wrote:I will add to my sheet just where it all is, call me anal but I hate not knowing where something is, will send me off on ocd road to obsession!Plymtom wrote:It's not that I forget where I've put stuff, but the passage of time I loose track of.. luckily it's tinned stuff in the main.

Re: where do you stash your stocks??
I have to say it works for me too. With a couple of clicks I can see everything I need to see.
I print out a copy of each tab as it's updated every month so I have a paper copy should shtf.
Everything neat, tidy and in one place. Couldn't be using notepads etc and it's quicker to type info in than to hand write into a book speedy fingers on the keyboard help, son tells me what I am putting in and dates etc. Whilst the technology is here I will use it to make life easier.

Re: where do you stash your stocks??
It would be daft to live as if TS had already HTF and if it did you'd be using the stuff, the BB/UB dates wont be as important, well not until the hard times pass.

Re: where do you stash your stocks??
Totally agree, would be daft to not use something if it makes good organisational sense now, the prepp for should shtf IS the paper copy so it should cover both bases.Plymtom wrote:It would be daft to live as if TS had already HTF and if it did you'd be using the stuff, the BB/UB dates wont be as important, well not until the hard times pass.
Besides notepads can be found by visitors or heaven forbid get lost/thrown out by mistake. My document is locked away from prying eyes and could never be stumbled across and has the added bonus if knowing if the family have been naughty and scoffing the stash of chocolate!!
