When you go there nobody eyeballs you - no matter what weights you lift or how skinny/fat you are, nobody eyeballs you as everybody started from skinny/fat. as about steroids - not everybody takes them - you can get to quite big size without them, just takes longer. plus going to gym is opportunity to meet new people

coming back to eating - I had periods in the past when I was eating only twice a day and my weight was still same. I still can handle with 2 meals a day when off work.
Some years ago I wanted a good friend of mine to come to our karate club and he said he'd feel people would 'look' at him but I pointed out they'd be looking at the people who were good at it. Same for a gym, people won't eyeball a starter, far more likely to look at someone who has developed their skills.

Oh, dont worry, i will. But its all a question of one step at a time. I saw a Elliot Hulse video once and he was answering the questions given to him by someone who needed a training partner to help him raise the dumbbell weights up. Elliot told the inquirer to lower the weights and "grow internally" and by that I think he was talking about the basic strength of the core and inner muscles, the supporting ones.

So for me, considering I have come from having a body that had more or less wasted away due to lack of sleep and no exercise and poor diet, plus depression due to a dire financial situation (I am of the opinion that emotional states can affect the muscles too, although i cant prove it), its one step at a time. The little weights I can do now (dumbbells with 2X2.5 plus 2 X 1.25 Kg weights on each) was totally out of my league about a year ago, but now I can do it. Once I am all over boy strong with these, then I am going up to 4 X 2.5 and then progressing on from there.

But I want to make sure that my supporting muscles are doing the work and growing so that I don't end up damaging myself.
