I've also started working out weights mostly this week and running starts next week, I'm really dreading that one. I've also stocked up on a years worth of hayfever tablets for £10 which is great unfortunately the eye drops don't have a long shelf life so I'm still buying that each month.

Take a look at the Optrex ActiMist sprays, they have decent shelf life on them and they don't have to be used up within a week of opening them either as they are sealed bottles. They come in a few different sorts, tired eyes, infected eyes, etc etc and you spray them onto closed eye lids. I use all the time due to computer screen making eyes dry and they do work. Each bottle has 100 metered doses in.

I froze/thawed/stashed with oxy absorbers 1KG white rice and 500g popcorn kernals. :) Tasted the popcorn after it had been warmed up and the freezing didn't seem to affect it at all so I may get more of that. A nice treat that is easy to prepare.

I have ordered 3 more 3 litre Kilner clip top jars so that I can also put pasta away, after freezing first and defrosting etc. One will be for twirls, one for penne and I think I will put a breakfast cereal in the third one avoiding any with nuts as these can go rancid. See, I'm learning!! :P

I did an online shop yesterday and added lots more tins, packets, jars and bags of goodies to go into my stash. Also getting 4KG of strawberries which I will make into jam during this week and then stash that too.

Feeling like everything is coming together slowly but surely. :D

On the downside, my blasted fridge doesn't seem to be working very well... Just what I need when I've just had my last pay packet till who knows when... Still, I will have to use my savings to get a new one which peeves me greatly but will try not to wallow too deeply

A couple of the larger charity shops (Sue Rider and the Sally-Ann) around here will accept and sell (after PAT testing) white-goods, they might not be new or pretty but they will work and be fairly inexpensive..... I think that one of them will even deliver (for a small fee)
Might be worth looking into in your AO

Thanks for giving me a heads up about that, I've had hayfever since I was a child and hayfever is a serious concern for me as a prepper. But actually I found a treatment that builds your tolerance to pollen so you can hopefully not need any meds. I only found out about it yesterday so I'll ask my GP about it and see what they think.

I will echo what FC said. Your present fridge, Is it one that needs to be defrosted? Check the temp control is set cold enough, it is warm now and the fridge may need a bit of help. Is the door seal ok?
Very often it can be a simple remedy. Oh, and get hold of a thermometer and check the temp in tge middle of the fridge. It needs to be 5 degrees or less (UK rules.)8 degrees or below is ok ( EU rules).
Nothing wrong with second hand though as ForgeCorvus said.

Absolutely will check out charity shops! I didn't know they could sell fridges. Thanks for heads up on that.

This one very dead, mousse is now liquid, butter is squidgy. Temperature is on max setting and its not making the normal "humming" sound, door seals all fine and everything else in good order. But then it is almost 19 years old

Thanks everyone.

Find a very local beekeeper and get some honey from them. Apparently the pollen and nectar from local plants works as a pretty good antidote to hay fever. Certainly true from what I have seen. I have given some of my honey to a near neighbour who suffers terribly from asthma and hay fever. He takes a spoonful per day (considers it medicine) and says it works better than anything else he has tried. As a longer term prep learn to keep your own bees - it does not have to be expensive - google up Top Bar Hives. Honey has a very, very long shelf life.

All those things are a bit of a clue  Check out those shops. House clearance places are good too, if you have one near. Good luck, and let us all know how you get on ;)

Forgot about the magic that is in honey very much worth a try. Think it doesn't ever go off but just solidifies or crystallises but warming it gently sorts it out again. Also good for sore throats with some lemon juice in the winter.

We have a local Sue Ryder and Cancer Research so I will go take a look after work tomorrow. Last working day is next Monday, scary stuff.

On the up side shopping has arrived and I have a nice long list of prepps to add to my spread sheets and rotate of course!
