Hello

Post by charliec »

Hi everyone,

A friend suggested I watch a program to called "Blackout" on Channel 4OD and the realisation of how fragile our society hit me like a train. How we take almost every aspect of our modern day lives for granted. I flick on a switch and there is light, I turn on the tap and there is water and don't think about how it happens. Maybe it's because I'm a woman but I had never thought of it until now.

And now I find myself here, a little unsure what to do first but reading your posts brings some guidance and reassurance.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and hope I'm going to learn many useful things from you fine people!

btw, are there many other female preppers?

Hello and welcome to the Forum.:)

Yes there are quite a few female preppers here.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Welcome to the forum Charlie! I don't think it's because you're a woman that you don't wonder where all that stuff comes from, I don't think the majority of people give it a second thought :)

Modern, western culture dictates that we are reliant on the system for food, water and energy. I don't think it's because you are a woman :D We are all standing on the shoulders of giants. Personally I believe that small communities should take control of the essentials. It's a little scary to think what will happen if these modern comforts are lost or taken away. Easy come, easy go, as I keep saying to the Mrs (if only she would listen  )

Blackout was a good watch. There are some good things broadcast from time to time but regardless I'll keep saying; Step 1. Throw away the television :D

Welcome to the forum, I'm sure you will make some friends here.

Never a truer word spoken
Behind every great man is an even greater woman. She carried you, raised you and made you who you are.

Hi and welcome, there is a shedload of info and good advice here, and 99.9% people are willing to share hints and tips, best advice I would give is look around read different posts but "don't panic" if it all seems overwhelming, apparently a journey of a thousand miles starts with one step, which you have just made, so the rest is relatively easy if you break it all down. good luck and enjoy, R
