Water Filtration/Purification Book

Post by FEISTY »

Sorry I don't know how to upload the clip, but I've just seen a new invention on Upworthy. It's a book which is made up of a new water filtration paper (silver nano-particles ... or something like that). Each paper will filter water for 30 days before it needs to be replaced). Not only that, but it's printed (food grade ink) with information (mainly aimed at the third world) on hygiene, etc. All you do is place the paper in the filter, pour the water through and the filtered water is as safe to drink as our (American) tap water. Not sure how long they remain viable. Something to look into.

I think they've missed a trick with their fund raising
They tell us how great and low cost their gear is,but if they had a sales portal so we could buy their stuff (Say, at an inflated price so each one bought pays for two or three to be sent where they'd do the most good) then they'd probably get more aid resources then just hoping that people will donate.

I think it's highly likely that the prepper community, which, let's face it, is a relatively small number of people, has been overlooked as a market. It's probably been developed to be paid for by aid agencies and distributed to areas of water poverty, disaster, etc. Personally, I think a coffee filter shape, together with a funnel would be more practical for filling water containers, but it's still a great idea.
