for info, we give our dogs garlic with their main meal which helps with ticks and fleas. My OH has given them tobacco in the past for worms (when we've run out of the chemicals) which is the old method of controlling worms. Both methods seem to work effectively. The garlic is actually for horses (!) is powdered and a couple of quid for a large bag. The label clearly states the garlic is fit for human consumption too

Presumably that's why the tobacco works, they haven't been given large amounts!

Good luck with the raccoon!

I would not recommend giving dogs, cats or any other animal tobacco at all. It is a poison and can make them very ill. Vomiting is just one symptom of the poisoning, other symptoms include diarrhoea or loose stools and, much more serious, seizures.

Don't poison your furry friends, folks, stick with vet-prescribed remedies!

My thoughts exactly! Except there aren't many on this list I'd pet :).

The skunk did a little puff when he was a baby nothing since his teeth are worse than his spray

Run with the vet. Our terrier has symptoms of Gastro enteritis. Vet first thing. It will cost, but that is what cash is for( no I am not wealthy). We have to stock up on flea treatment AND wormers for dog and the two cats. Piperazine is far more effective and humane than an ounce of Old Holborn. The last time I heard of any one worming dogs with tobacco was back 30 years ago when I kept working Russells. It was frowned upon then.
Please use the vet( or Pets At Home/chemist) it is far more effective.
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

We dosed our lot with Fleavox (its a spot-on treatment).... But it doesn't seem to of done much good with the local nasties, so we're unlikely to buy it again.

Had Advocate recommended, its expensive but it treats fleas, ticks and worms so you don't need any other products
