Bread poultice recipe you will need Bread-milk/water--saucepan-bowl-gauze/cheesecloth
To bring a boil to a head - Warm 3 to5 tsp of milk to skin tempuature and poor over a slice of bread with it then make it in to a past and place onto the boil and let it dry repeat twice a day until boil ruptures.
To heal an infection--- heat some milk to near boiling and place a slice of bread in to it, wrap the infected area with gauze/cheesecloth, Make sure that the bread is cool enough to handle and place on the infected area and wrap another piece of gauze over the top to keep in place and allow to cool repeat 3 to 4 times a day for as long as necessary.

Mag sulphate paste is great. I too always keep that on hand. As a kid I recall bad gravel filled wounds being flushed out with hydrogen peroxide. Fizzes the dirt to the surface. ( EarEx has it in for fizzing out your ears when they are blocked.)

Junmist, I mentioned a bread poultice much earlier in the thread. I got it from the book "Grandmother's Secrets". It's great for edible weeds and herbal remedies. The Greeks have been using bread poultices for hundreds of years.
Oooo thank you Mad Scientist I will look that book out I have a small collection of books with herbal remedies. I only remember stuff that I use on the animals most of the times and stuff that I will need when I'm out working with them, I must admit that since I have found out about it Plantain is becoming my plant of chose as a field medicine as it is easy to find
