Shot Pouch

Post by Holomon »

Bit extravagant but I bought one of these, and it came today;

I wanted a nice catapault setup to teach my son about them, so bought a brass Milbro and that pouch to keep the shot in.
Have to say, the quotes on the site are spot on, the quality is fantastic, it looks really, really nice. When he's a bit older I'll pass the set on to him, but in the meantime of course I shall be spending a lot of time practicing with it.
In case anyone's interested, I got the medium size one which is about the same diameter as a big fob watch, and is holding 65 8mm steel BBs quite happily.

So thats what they are!

I've been seeing them around on the larp scene for years..... They get used for coins and small breakables (like modern watches).

I'm still laughing from that! But yes, very well made, I took a bit of a punt but really haven't been let down, it's really well made and looks awesome in the chestnut leather.

 Having taken part in a competition last month, I'm getting a bit more interested in this sort of thing, as well as getting pellets/whatever from where you carry them to where you are going to use them, it can all be a very fiddly business to do in a rush, anything which helps the process be more flowing is a bonus worth looking at.
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

There's always something cheaper, to be honest you could get away with a Crosman nylon belt pouch for about £6, but this was more about having something nice to pass on.
I could have bought a £10 black widow instead of a nice brass Milbro too, so you could probably get a decent enough set for £20 instead of the £50 I spent, if you just want a catapult to use.

There's also the buy cheap buy thrice motto which is very often true. Buy the best you can, not the cheapest or the most expensive and you can't go far wrong. That's how I feel with things.

I bought several wooden catapults and replaced the single bands with the double ones.

The pouches do look nice. I've just ordered my first catapult. I agree with Holomon and Decaff about how much to spend generally, but in this case I've gone for the cheapo Barnett Black Widow from eBay. It worked out £11.99 including 50x 10mm plastic BBs. Now I just have to find somewhere to practise as my back garden is quite overlooked.

Sorry, I'm going to have to share Joerg Sprave with you (some of you will already know him)

This is his Production 'slingshot' (catapult in English)

This insane German genius has been making rubber powered weapons for a few years (as well as playing with some other 'toys' )

Check out his Youtube channel......... Just don't plan on doing much else that week.

Legal note: In Germany wrist braces on catapults are illegal, which is why he doesn't fit them
