Hi, I've been working on an emergencygobagslashfamilycampingkit - I'm really enjoying getting my stuff together. But I'm still learning and would like to make this kind of stuff more of a hobby.
I found the site just by random googling.
I've bought lots of kit (lots by my standards) and I want to make sure I'm doing it right. My wife's family are in California and they have tons of food storage and arsenals of weapons. I'd like to do a more conservative prep. I'm planning on camping a bit more with my kids so we can practice using out kit - should be fun!
Look forward to chatting with you all about ideas and what not!

Hey and welcome! Definitely good to practice as much as you can with your stuff. No point having a shiny new camping stove and not learning the amazing ways you can burn yourself with it!

Welcome! Stick to it as a hobby otherwise you may get bored
And also maybe think of a bug in plan too.
And dont forget supplies of medicines. With all things, Rotate as needed and dont be afraid to eat into it all if you need to and then stock up again when required.

Thanks for the advice NickDutch - I've thought of that to an extent. I'm here for other ideas. I've got all my kit in the porch of the house, it will be useful both here or where ever we are. Similarly to Kizzie, I've got quite a lot of tinned food stored and I'm up for ideas on other things. I buy a little extra tinned stuff with each big shop.
My wife's family in the States are mormon and they're obsessed with food storage. And guns. No sandbags or bullet proof vests... Just lots and lots of guns and ammo. I'm trying to learn from what I see as their mistakes. They're planning for another civil war, it seems.
