Get yourself a lemon tree!! If you have the right indoor place for it :P alternatively, you're stuck with that horrible bottle of pectin stuff, or the jamming sugar with pectin in, or even those bottles of lemon/line juice? Not great but better than no jam.

Purchased a gift for my father for Christmas that is too big for me to store and use, but he will have space, and it might be useful. Its a stove top distiller that should be ideal for water purification is used right.

Your lemon curd lasts a couple of weeks?
What do you do, make it by the hundredweight ???

LMAO

Thanks for the pectin link, I'd heard that people made it from ordinary apples (and I was sceptical) this makes far more sense. This is another bookmark for me to reread and digest. Many thanks, thats great

With regards to the pectin thing I seem to recall quinces are high in it and are often used to add to jams. I've got my eyes on some bushes near to me , they just let the fruit rot so I'll have to pick up some and get to planting the seeds.

Purchased some +1.5 prescription cheap reading glasses from the local wilkies for under a fiver. I don't needs them but they do fit neatish over my spectacles and can help me to get that bit closer to any real close up fiddly work I might need to do. A bit like having some extra magnification. And as my vision in general is getting a bit longer, it might be useful to have them around. Especially when it comes to reading small print and the like

This week I am drawing up a To-Do -List for my youngest daughter. She and her chap are house/garden/animal sitting whilst the Duchess and I take a holiday(can't wait, I have not had a week off let alone two in the last 3 year!)
Of course we will be away just as the runner beans are ready!
