Thanks for the suggestions, yes Briggs I would love to put vents in my container, and a window and "ordinary" door, to make it so much more useful but unfortunately I can't do any of that myself, lack of skill and health. Members of my family who could do it, are always too busy and don't see the point anyway, (not preppers), so i'll just have to dream on.

Tirawa's idea is also good but as we rent, that too is a non-starter but hopefully these ideas will help someone else out.

Could we not line our storage boxes ( or our loft walls) with .. I dont know erm polystyrene sheets or carpets or something? paint the insides of boxes black and the outside white. ( thinking out loud here) I bet before our tins get to us they have been through a lot anyway. Boiling hot warehouses then air-conditioned shops in the daytime humid at night and thats the shops warehouses before that, shipping containers before that etc

Maybe we could wipe the cans all over with Vaseline to repeal (sp) moisture?

Maybe I will ask this question on a canning group for those without cellars

Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.
