Saturday/Sunday Markets

Post by Meyou »

Do any of you folks frequent your local markets? Between the tat and overprised garbage, some REAL BARGAINS can be found...We got a huge one in Cardiff I like to pop down to once in a while, very useful for picking up bulk toiletpaper on the cheap.

They have rather impressive first aid kits for £8, but I'm a bit dubious about skimping when it comes to something which may be needed to save me life.

There is a massive Car Boot / Fruit Market very near me every Sunday but i'm banned from going without MrsCC as I always come back with boxes of "junk" . You can pick up anything there though from a Car to cheap fruit.

Ah yes! I got a few of those torches as backups, very handy, and quite a decent light!

Ahhhhh...Well, try this one: Tell her you're nipping to bog, then sneak off and buy the stuff you want...then be like "Hi Darling! Look what I bought on the way back from the toilet!" Works for me dad all the time!

CC I have to take a grown up with me to if I go to the car boot sales because I cannot walk away from hand tools or other items that could be used for shtf so Mrs Max put her foot down

Rope, Old Garden Tools (better made than new ones), camping kit (they did not like it so areselling all the new kit they did not need), bulk lighters, kids books and board games, old non electric kitchen items, hand tools and always a hot cuppa and bacon roll

Alot of folk sell old time items because they dont know how much use they will be when the power goes off or gets to expensive to use

CC I sneak off now and again on my way to work on a sunday morning without mrs max knowing perhaps you could try that one or taking the dog for an extra long walk :D

Unfortunately our dog hasn't got many "people skills". Still, I suppose I would get to the front of the queue quickly :D

We don't buy a great deal from the market place, the odd good deal on fruit we don't grow ourselves - 2 punnets of blue berries for a quid for blue berry vodka, mmmmm!

The farmers market gets a visit everytime as produce is all local and it's good to support small independents.

Am planning a visit to my local Sunday Market tomorrow - see what interesting they have. Never paid too much attention to them.

We went to one last weekend, more "Car boot" than "Market" though. Picked up an unused oil lamp for £2, it is a glass based one but at least we will be able to see how much oil is left.

We have about 8 or 10 lamps now
