Treated my self to a new winter coat set....

Post by Yorkshire Andy »

My current sprayway goretex jacket is knocking on about 5 years old and starting to look a bit shabby... i was always disapointed that it was a one layer jacket ok for cool autumn but no good warmth wise in the middle of winter....

Been looking for a replacment for a while but been wincing at the cost.... Last week i had a wander round a localish shopping emporium and stumbled on the fact they stocked Tog 24 clothing... well after abusing the debit card i left with several bits and pieces for my upcoming holiday but ultimately treated myself to a new Coat / wind stopper. since they were on offer....

specs are here

http://www.tog24.com/escape-mens-milate ... green.html

http://www.tog24.com/shield-mens-softsh ... green.html

both are reduced at the moment

and the soft shell will fix inside the outer jacket with press studs

Hoping it will last me a few years ....

Really must sing some praise for the shop i used though

http://www.montaguemills.com/

got the outer jacket home and found one of the press studs was broken so went back thursday night after work and they were out of stock of the size i wanted so they refunded me and then rung Tog 24 whilst i was there and i was promised one for today... At half nine i was phoned up to say it had arrived  Most shops locally will always say things to keep you happy till you go away but they actually did what they said they would so its only right in my eyes to give a little praise where praise is due......

Now all i need is some rain to see how good it is :tinfoil

I do like soft shells I just got mine back from the village seamstress you got rid of the yucky Velcro cuffs for me and elasticated and tapered the sleeves slightly, and she fitted a few extra pockets inside for me for my PMR radio and mini binos etc to live

I bought a north face mcmurdo parka last year and it is honestly the best investment I have ever made. It is basically a huge waterproof quilt with a 10 year guarantee. Not cheap by any means but it's something I plan on having for 10+ years and getting plenty of wear out of. . the ability to go in sub zero temperatures as we had last year and still be warm in just that and a tshirt is strangely liberating! haha Ive since gone and spent about a grand on various other north face bits and love it all!
