Hi all,
Hope everyone is doing well. I have a problem, I have gathered all my prep gear and its in loads of different places. So I was thinking of getting some sort of plastic boxes/tubs with lids that can be stacked up and easy to move around. Has anyone got any ideas or have used a type of box which they have found to be good.
Thanks a lot
Mike
storage solutions
Re: storage solutions
Hi Mike,
I use these :http://www.reallyusefulproducts.co.uk/u ... ge_rub.php
I use them for holding everything from camping kit to spare parts kits for my vehicles etc.
what i love is you can put a seal into the lid and the blue handles have a hole that you can put a zip tie through to lock the lid closed.
loads of odd sizes also
just to say no association just happy customer, and they are made in the UK so they satisfy my buy brit where u can ethos
regards

Re: storage solutions
Storage is as big a problem as money even for those with little My wife got a dozen large plastic boxes that chemists use for deliveries, back breakers for heavy stuff without a doubt, so bear that in mind, 2 little ones which fit sideways across 1 big one are very handy for heavy stuff, what we got was in the main for long term storage of accumulated family stuff and our own crap we can't bear to part with preps for the most part aren't going anywhere so they are more under bed boxes, a big old chest (another heirloom) and various storage drawer units (as well as old chests of drawers) in the roof space, I do like the ingenious ideas for under stair storage and within the wall stuff for tinned goods (pulling one from the bottom auto-stock rotation), anyway those heavy duty boxes like this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-LARGE-HEAV ... 233e319d36 if you are moving it about much or just want it to last then don't muck about with the supermarket stuff, it's OK but it wont take any punishment.
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.
Re: storage solutions
Hi mike
I've used the 42ltr & 45ltr sizes mostly as they fit snugly in the back of my vehicle, when I go away i just grab the camping box and the kitchen box and I know everything is in them.
I also use them for food storage, as the lid is tight enough to keep most things out, and they are a manageable size with good handles even when full of tins, however you need to check what you want to put in them AND the space you want to store them.
I've seen them for sale in the Range and Staples I'd go fondle a few and see what suits, if the box is to big it will be awkward to lift when full.
The other thing is I'm a bit of a tidy fiend & I hate mis-matched stuff, so would prefer matching stuff even if I have to pay a premium for it.

Another vote for the Really Useful Boxes, I use the big 84L ones in black rather than the translucent ones:

Re: storage solutions
Hi
Yes I will go and have a look at some and find the best price for them. Theres a lot to choose from in terms of size. So will work something out. Having things in a box and labeled per box is a brilliant idea. Keep things safe and all together
Thanks
Mike

Re: storage solutions
I use the comparatively tiny 24 litre boxes, Crystal something or other, from Tesco - they fit underneath beds, or they do in my house, and they're light enough that I even I can shift them around, but they hold a fair amount of stuff. To my horror, I have 10 I have more preps than that, of course, but those are the main plastic crates that I bought.

I got a few of these air and water tight barrels -

The more square shared one stack well and are tough as old boots and they're not too much more than the useful boxes.
