LED back up / emergency lighting...

Wanted some of this for another project but since it appeared the ebayer had cocked up on the price or was really cheap i ordered 2 lots... wish i had ordered more as the price has gone from £1.45 to £3.19 for 5m roll


ok so what am i rambling about.......

This stuff:







casually hook it up to a old car battery or caravan / deep cycle leisure battery and for £4-5 ish allowing a couple of quid for a bit of wire and a fuse holder assuming you have a old car battery or can run a wire from your car fag lighter you now have a decent light enough to light a work shop / garage / room



this is just a lash up with it hooked on a few old cable clips to the beam in the garage...

mmm onions.... and a strange floating tennis ball so we dont shove the deep freeze through the wall and into the ditch behind the workshop when we put the car in there... (it hits the screen at the right stopping point) .....

a full 5m strip draws about 2a



the one i used in the pics above are the White version but i also got a warm white one to play with..

they came pre made off with wire at each end so if you dont have a soldering iron you can get 2 lenghts out of the 5m without any real electrical knowledge there are cut points marked on the strip black wire to negative white to live ideally via a 2a fuse


the stuff is self adhesive with 3m tape on the back of it so can just be stuck into place

But I have to say I particularly like the tennis ball, reminds me of our 'is the water system full' piece of string................

The LED chain lights were used on our IOW camp for all our lighting needs, most were run off small 12v sealed lead acid batteries.

Great lighting prep! Makes my £5 wind-up LED lantern look a bit weedy.

I recently acquired two 3 M reels of LEDS from Lidl. they came pre-wired with a switch and a 12 Volt Transformer, they are also waterproof. I think they were £12.00 each but best price I have seen on the high street.

Got myself some red green blue 5050 led sets ordered

They Come with a remote which you can set the colour incl white and the brightness and are waterproof I have a big CCTV power supply unit so I'm hoping to spur into that and stick under the white upvc soffet board

To provide courtesy lighting during the dark night s if i need to work on the driveway along with doubling up as Christmas lights using the scrolling colour change program

(Getting a mains lighting to that side of the house would be difficult and would need a spark to cirtifiy it
