Gone thro the larder and made a list of all the sugars/spices et al that need replacing following the recent (and ongoing) jam & chutney fest. Started the Christmas hamper (for the parents) and a list of treats to make and include (ingredient purchase list made - btw does anyone know where I can buy largish quantities of maple syrup for a reasonable price?) Started the Christmas box for us, also gone on a rose hip and blackberry recce, just checking no one's cut down the wild roses................

If you can find largish quantities of real maple syrup for a reasonable price  , I will be interested to know how, as my kids love the stuff and I feel like I'm taking out a second mortgage every time I buy it. It goes in the fridge with strict instructions to use tiny amounts only  !

As of last Friday, I have a permanent contract at work, so I've decided to learn to drive. I've never had any interest in learning, but a year after leaving London, I find that it might do me good to have a car.

On the allotment, I'm getting a good supply of courgettes and I've had a few of the first lot of carrots already. I need to look into a clamp for storing the carrots - there's going to be loads! :D

Congratulations! On both items :)

I ordered some medical supplies from St Johns Ambulance yesterday, before finding out they were comparatively expensive, especially for delivery  , but they've already arrived, so I can forgive them :D

Thanks! :)

I did my first aid at work training with St John's Ambulance and took the opportunity before I left to buy one of their first aid kits. I'd love to build up a stock of their kit because it's good quality and it's tried and tested. But like you said, it's expensive. On my list of Stuff to Do, is to find a good supplier of first aid gear. Superdrug and Boots are a tad rubbish with bandages and suchlike and they don't sell the burn gel!

http://www.firstaid4less.co.uk/ Has been mentioned several times on this forum. They list burns treatments on their site. I have never used them my self.

Well, following a spell of poor health I'm pleased to be back in a prepping frame of mind and even more pleased my profile on this site hasn't disappeared - has been quite some time since I was last on here. Spent yesterday improving security of my detached garage which also houses some useful bits n' bobs! Next job will be to tidy and organise!

Mouse, one place I found was http://www.thesafetysupplycompany.co.uk/ Like you, I've really been stung at Boots for bandages, but safetysupply have crepe bandages 10cm x 4.5m 100% cotton for £0.79!

Spiderwebb, glad you're feeling better - and yes, security and clearing things up sort of go hand in hand, don't they! I've just been sorting stocks - every time I think I'm done, there's more. I found another kilo of (slightly) out of date lentils this morning, because I completely unpacked my little crate of dried beans - must keep stock lists up to date.
