Have a look at this interview. This is how you do it when SHTF for real.

Great story, really does say it all. Prep and survive, know tradable skillls they will be what keeps you alive.

Think the other key message in that true story is he had a community and numbers, as a unarmed society having a large network of people and numbers with you seems the only real way to survive TSHF in the UK, he bugged in and kept his apperance humble as he lived off his supplies quitely.

Really coming to the conclusion that Bugging out has got to be the real last resort, you cant BO with a large group or a young family for long and very few outdoor places in the UK will provide enough resources for long term survival, we dont have the wild deer, boar, stocked rivers or forest that we use to, especially in the south-east. I do accept Wales, Scotland and the North have more natural resources.
Hope for the best, prep for the worst and keep it need to know.

To be a consistent winner means preparing not just one day, one month or even one year - but for a lifetime.

At a quick glance waiting for the coffee to kick in that reads like Selco's story. He has his own forum and blog shtfschool. It makes for some interesting reading but even he admits luck has a great deal to do with surviving.
If at first you don't succeed, excessive force is usually the answer.

Am I alone in finding this quite depressing? Fine if you live in America. You can have all the firearms you want, but here only the ones with illegal firearms will have the upper hand. Also haven't really broached the subject of antibiotics. Again, it seems much easier to get hold of them in America. Sounds as if, without firearms and antibiotics, we're doomed. Still, other not quite so drastic things to prep for.

Antibiotics can be bought over the counter in Spain, Portugal and many other countries round the world. My friend gets them and cream whenever she goes overseas, cheaper than prescriptions here too!! Just a thought.

Edit: The survivalist in the interview goes by Selco and operates a website called SHTFSchool - be sure to check it out!

Can they be brought back through customs without problems, Decaff? Wish I'd known when I was away last October. Maybe going somewhere this year - will bear it in mind. Does she just say what she wants and do they ask lots of tricky questions or does she put them in a basket and just whizz through checkout? That just leaves the f.r..rms to sort out ;).
