Hi! Prepper from Littleborough here.

Post by AlwaysBeReady »

Hi,

I'm new to the site but not new to prepping. I've been prepping in one way or another for years but a couple of years ago I started to up the ante and bought various survival gear and began to learn survival skills.

Until recently, I always thought of prepping as quite a personal thing so that I have the skills to look after my family and I if one of hundreds of possible scenarios result in WROL and the chavs of the world become nightmares and try to steal, rape and pillage as a way of surviving and entertaining themselves.

I'm here because whilst I keep it low key so that the unprepared don't come knocking, it might also be handy to be in touch with a few like minded people so that we can maybe communicate over radio. I recently bought a Baofeng UV-5R and would like to practice using it.

Maybe the site will help me forge links that might be useful if the SHTF. Who knows!

Anyway, that's me. Always be ready!

hello and welcome.

With regard to the Baofeng Radio to get the most out of it I would suggest taking the amateur Radio Fopundation Licence course. Here are the contact details for the Rochdale Club; Rochdale & District Amateur Radio Society
Norden Old Library, 617 Edenfield Road, Norden, Rochdale, OL12 7RB

Tel: 01706 633400

Hope this is of some use to you.

Thanks for your comments guys. That's really useful info about the foundation license, thanks a lot.

If anyone's within walking distance of Littleborough- say 30 mile radius, or a distance I'd be able to communicate over radio with, then please 'friend' me as you never know. We might be able to share ideas about BOLs or maybe integrate our plans. Maybe even communicate on radio.
