Personally the briquette make for a tenner looks a good buy and the impact log splitter.
Having an old coal fire buried behind a modern gas fire the briquette make seems like might never use it but you never know.
I know aldis is cheap but they are good with the three year warranties and never quibble if you return anything.

Good heads up on that although to be honest most people I know who have tried making the paper bricks , myself included , have given it up as being a lot of effort for little return.

I've not used the Aldi wood splitter but have used one of these

they work pretty well and safer than using an axe.

I bought one of the small hand axes. The axe was sharp enough to use at once. Quality appears to be good, Made in china, but isn't everything these day?

My wife and I tried the paper brick maker a couple of year ago. We spent around 6 month making them and to be honest it really wasn't worth it at all. They burned incredibly fast (much faster than the briquettes you can buy) and they left a lot of mess. I'd only use one again as an absolute last resort, little heat is better than no heat.
