First prepper shop

Post by filsgreen »

Just done my first prep shop on line for my wife and I. All this came to £72, after £12 off voucher for first time shop. After reading the forums I shall not be buying like this again, if I do I shall probably change the supermarkets, so as not to form a pattern. There are few items that we needed generally, beer and chocolate springs to mind. I made sure all the food was what we would eat and replace, as I don't like the idea of it running out of date because we don't fancy it and having to throw it away. I bought the bubble gum for a treat to cheer us up. Mind you there is no chance of the chocolate lasting :) Obviously the list is personal to me, but is there anything else I should be buying? All stuff like batteries and the like I'm going to get from Home and bargain. I've just got to find where to store it all.

Well done, a good start to your stores. Home bargains are great for tinned food at a fantastic price. You can also start a good stock of medications, first aid items etc from them.

What will you do for water?? How will you cook it if there is no gas/electricity?

A good idea to shop from different places to stop weird questions being asked regarding quantities!! Or just say you're making food hampers for presents this year and starting early preparations!!

Always remember to store what you eat and eat what you store, rotate, rotate, rotate!! You can't go too far wrong if you do that.

Keep going, it all adds up to peace of mind.

Thanks for your input Decaff, I did start prepping a while back after watching Blackout on TV. I bought four 25 litre plastic water containers and three gas cookers that came with four canisters of gas. I also got a wind up radio. Lighting is covered with torches, camping lanterns and lots of candles. Oh and I've got a ports potti  with Keyes fluid. Lots of crossover from camping. Obviously I've got rechargeable AA batteries, but I don't know how good they'd be in a blackout.
