I did misunderstand :oops: and I also agree that you must must must have good quality first aid items in any kit. Apologies for getting the wrong end of the stick. :cry:

I will up my ante and get myself more good quality dressings, tapes etc ASAP.

From my own point of view, my main injuries have always been to my hands. Therefore, I always have good quality plasters,bandages, antiseptic,and as Devonian said ,wound closures-Steri Strips. These have saved me so many trips to A and E for stitches. They work.

Whatever you get make sure you know how to use it. I took a bunch of preppers on a winter bushcraft trip and they had an amazing and extensive FAK, sadly after asking them basic questions it became apparent they had very limited first aid knowledge... so, train, train and keep training, I do and I'm a retired nurse.

Did my yearly refresher about 2 months ago trainer was surprised how much I remembered

But things change such as the newer spinal injury "safeer" recovery position
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine
