Bug Out Preppers Will Look Like the Unprepared
Those who plan on bugging out to whatever remote locations there may be in the UK, will look the same as the unprepared driving along the back roads to the locations they think will be their refuge. Preppers who live remotely will not welcome this steady stream of traffic into their own remote areas. From their perspective, you will be adding to the problems associated with surviving a SHTF scenario. Many remote preppers may drop trees or create other obstructions to block roads and route traffic away from their locations. Nothing personal, just a reasonable precaution by those who have established full time, remote living sites.

That depends.
If the idea of "bugging out" is to take a room in a hotel for a few days until the fire brigade have sorted out the fire at your house, or for the flood waters to recede enough for you to start doing the place up again, then thats fine.
But if you are talking about an end of the world scenario with mutant chav thugs salivating at the thought of your curry sauce in your fridge, which is less likely, then you're probably right.
"Bugging out" doesn't always mean camping and spear hunting from the branches of a rhododendron bush.

Very few of us plan on bugging out anywhere. An Englishman home is his castle or did you not know that?

Also assumes there will be an "overnight" instant event that causes preppers and everyone else to up sticks are run to the hills. Actually if that did happen I reckon most would be "bugging in " in a traffic jam but I tend to think an event will tend to unfold over a period of time . However , that said I can understand the idea of people blocking roads to their hideaways but of course that then supposes that they have some sort of crystal ball to predict an event before everyone else and can take precautions . A slower event may almost go unnoticed as the number of people on the move slowly increases and knowing just when to act becomes critical.

This Island of ours is crowded. *if* it came to it I would stand and defend my home, rather than defend myself in a strange land, where I had nothing. That is me though.

Good to read that most seem to be preparing to bug in. Not many places to bug out to in the UK with the population density at about 650 per square mile you might as well bug out to your garden. I myself have prepared to stay where I am as I live remotely and am prepared for many scenarios. In most cases bugging out seems to be a very risky proposition.SoCal92057 wrote:Those who plan on bugging out to whatever remote locations there may be in the UK, will look the same as the unprepared driving along the back roads to the locations they think will be their refuge. Yes, English common law. Were it only still true and then you could defend it as such.Hamradioop wrote:SoCal92057 wrote:Those who plan on bugging out to whatever remote locations there may be in the UK, will look the same as the unprepared driving along the back roads to the locations they think will be their refuge. If you study the law as it is, we are not as defenseless as we used to be, in normal circumstances and with appropriate force, we all fear home invasion and as for castles ... few of them stood against a determined force with the means to overcome the defenses, I believe that having options and the loosest of plans will serve us better than a deeply rooted mind set, that way we will be better prepared for whatever does happen, for fate is sure to side step many a good plan.
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.
Re: Bug Out Preppers Will Look Like the Unprepared
We're very remote too, and will stay exactly where we are except in the unlikely event of some sort of contamination making that impossible.
I'm reasonably confident that very, very few people would make it to us

Plymtom, don't start going literal on me. Few of us have castles in the classic sense, but it is desirable to have the means to defend what you do have regardless if the outcome of that defense is uncertain.Plymtom wrote:SoCal92057 wrote:Yes, English common law.
