tesco heads up !

just to let you know about a few goodies I bought at Tesco for a good price - channa dal 2kg 2 for £4 - red lentils 2kg 2 for £4 - east end tinned toms 4 for £1 !

Ooh, thanks! I'm off for some lentils and tinned toms tomorrow! Better take the BIG rucsack! :D

Best to get your toms in jars. Tin toms are not that great because of seepage from the liner they use.

the good news is that most cheap shops ( like home and family bargains B&M etc ) sell jars and cartons very cheap.

Thanks kizzie, didn't know that.

I couldn't find the East End toms offer but I did get the lentils. might get some more and have a mylar session this week!

I am very skeptical about undergroundhealthreporter site looks like snake oil to me. Their are too many of these so called Medical Information sites, treat with caution as they could lead to premature Death.

There is a lot of info on it. I just pasted the first link. Other tin food is fine but the acidity in tomatoes makes it not as safe as a jar. Here is another link

As someone who became very ill through food, and who also cured those illnesses through food. I try to make sure everything I eat is as safe for me as possible.
advice is there to take or leave. :)

we have taken to getting tomatoes in tetra pak boxes , same shelf life as tins

I get those ones sometimes, they sell out before the tinned ones!
