Hi, I am 33 years old, London based, Married dad-to-be - I became a prepper this week over concerns about Ebola, I reckon I spent about £400 online today getting various bits and bobs.
I dont have a buggout plan since I read online that quarantine areas will be set up without warning and access in/out will be restricted, I have bought what I think I need for a lock down plan, hopefully staying indoors until any outbreak has passed.
I am interested to know what if anything you guys are doing about a possible outbreak of Ebola.
Thanks

Welcome. First thing. Do not panic. Make a brew and calm down. Have a read and look round, and gather information. Don't go wasting money either until you know what you need to buy.
I hope that prepping for you is not just about the latest 'problem', prepping is a rounded lifestyle that covers many , many issues. Many here prep for the basics like unemployment. Take your time.

thanks, I am not panicking - I just have a feeling that our government cannot be relied upon to safeguard us.
spending isnt an issue for me, I would rather spend it now on stuff I might need later that may or may not be available over the coming months and I know that if a crisis happens any lump I have in savings will probably be useless.

Well , fair enough. But do stay calm. 4,000 people have died of this so far. In the entire world. Aids, whichalso came out of Africa, was going to see us all off in the 80's I recall.

AIDs is a bit different tho since its mainly an STD, this strain of ebola is tougher than before and the idea that it is only transmitted by bodily fluid transfer is also being questioned.

It could be worse, you might be a tabloid journo!
Welcome and as said, take a deep breath and consider your strengths and risks. Prepping is a long game, not a knee jerk reaction to any one threat.
What did you spend your 400 on? Would love to know!

Don't forget chocolate!
When's your baby due? Remember to prep for baby!
Remember to buy what you normally eat
I've got some tins put by, as well as whole foods (I'm a vegan and love the stuff anyway). You might consider growing food in your garden or yard in containers. You could put in onions, garlic, spring onions, spinach, broad beans and hardy peas at this time of year. Consider herbs and winter salad on your windowsill.
Well done remembering water and filtration
I'm with Jansman, have a think and a read. Ask questions.
Ebola is on my radar but at the moment I'm upping my food and fuel stocks for winter.

Hope you've tried the army rations. They might taste like s##t and that might end up being all you've got. Personally we have a range of tinned and dried items, all of which we tried first before I bulk buyed it.newlondonprepper wrote:i got water/fuel tanks, water filtration equip, bio suits, breathing filtration/masks, rubber gloves/gauntletts, bulk wholefoods/army rations, medic kits
You are very lucky to be able to but all that in one go! Some of us have been prepping for years and still can't manage that lot!

thanks, wish i was lucky - i am self employed earning money online, i started my own business with a credit card after being repeatedly laid off. i got french army rations off ebay, figured french ones would be nicer than the u.s/uk army ones - this stuff has definately gone up in price since i last looked at it as have the gas masks etc, definately more people out there becoming wise.
so no one has answered my original question, looks like its just me prepping for ebola so i must be a lone crackpot ?
