Spots in Essex or Kent?

Post by HackneyPrepper »

Does anyone know of any nice spots in Essex or Kent for over night wild camping? Also farmers that would be able to sell me organic meat and game. I live in London and don't drive so places within an hours hike from a local train station or bus stop would be great. I know of a few places but they are quite far out from London and I always end up spending a small fortune on travel so I am looking for places closer to home. Please PM me if you know any farmers or land owners that are cool with people staying over night on their land.

Hello HackneyPrepper, welcome :) I don't know of any myself, I'm not near you, but I'd say have a look round on the interweb first ... I googled your search term, found a site called pitchup that listed the legalities on the first page, and plenty of other questions about legalities and places, there's one called go4awalk that seems good. Or have you done that and you're looking for personal recs. now? Understandable!

Seems to be a lot going on close to you - who'd ever have thought there were biodynamic farmers selling in Stoke Newington and growing in Bromley!

I have tried Pitchup but what I am really looking for is a land owner that will allow me to put up a Basha in a wooded area. I will be happy to pay camp site fees but would rather pitch up in a forest rather than a field.

I seem to remember one of our society members saying there is some good woodland camping places in Ongar.
I'll be speaking to him over the next day or two and see if he can pass me the location for you.
